This Privacy Policy describes how Pathloop ("we", "us", or "our") handles your information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). The App is available for free (ad-supported) and offers an optional in-app purchase to upgrade to a Pro version, which removes advertisements and unlocks additional features.

1. Data Collection and Usage

Pathloop is designed with privacy in mind. Our core philosophy is that your data belongs to you.

• Location Data: The App processes GPS files (GPX and FIT formats) that you explicitly open within the App. This data is processed locally on your device to generate map visualizations and animations. We do not collect, transmit, or store your location data on any external servers.
• Personal Information: We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, or phone number directly.
• Usage Data & Analytics: We use third-party services to collect anonymized usage data and crash reports to improve the application. This data does not include your GPS files or location.
• In-App Purchases: If you choose to upgrade to the Pro version via an in-app purchase, the transaction is processed securely by Google Play. We do not process or store your payment information on our servers.

2. Third-Party Services

The App utilizes third-party services that may collect information used to identify you, provide maps, or show advertisements.

• Map Services (MapLibre and OpenStreetMap): When the App downloads map tiles to display your routes, your device communicates directly with these map tile servers. These requests may expose your device's IP address to the tile providers, but they do not receive your GPS tracks.
• Google AdMob: We use AdMob to display advertisements for users of the free version. AdMob may collect and use data (such as your advertising ID) to serve personalized or non-personalized ads. Advertisements are removed if you upgrade to the Pro version.
• Amplitude Analytics & Firebase Crashlytics: We use these services to understand how the App is used and to diagnose crashes. They collect anonymous usage statistics and device information.
• Google Play Billing: Used to securely process in-app purchases.

3. Permissions

The App requests the following permissions to function correctly:

• Storage / Media Access: Required to open GPX/FIT files from your device and to save exported video animations to your gallery.
• Internet Access: Required to download map tiles, process in-app purchases, send anonymous analytics, and display ads.
• Notifications / Foreground Service: Required to keep the video rendering process running reliably in the background.

4. Children's Privacy

Our App does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
